Why is Russell Crowe jealous of Gladiator 2?
At a recent presentation at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival (via ScreenDaily) Crowe spoke about the long-awaited sequel and admitted he’s a little jealous of the great show they’re putting on:
“I admit to a certain kind of jealousy, because it reminds me not only of my youth, but of what it means to me in my life. It was her time for a few seconds. I don’t know anything about the cast or the plot—well, I won’t, because I’m dead— [but] Whoever is involved in that movie, if Ridley decides to do a sequel to that story, they’ll have really strong reasons. It’s typical for Ridley to rethink everything he’s done and figure out how to make it better. I can’t think of this movie being anything less than absolutely amazing when it comes out.”
While he didn’t seem to mind answering questions about the sequel, the actor also joked about how much he’s asked about the project despite not being a part of it:
“They should be royalty paying me for the amount of questions you asked me about a movie I wasn’t in. It had nothing to do with me. In this world, I’m dead. Six feet under.”
Gladiator 2 It is currently in production and is scheduled to hit theaters on November 22, 2024.
