There are many things happening that could be better timed, but the arrival of the Netflix trailer for the upcoming documentary deepest breath Seems in bad taste given the recent tragedy around Titan’s lost submarine. That’s certainly how many people have seen the arrival of the trailer for the documentary produced by A24 about editor Alicia Zecchini, the current social media shooting world record holder.
The trailer was released on Tuesday by Netflix ahead of the documentary’s July 19 release. Since the search for the submarine Titan, which was lost under the sea during an expedition to view the wreck of the Titanic, was underway at that point. Many didn’t think the timing was great and the trailer release should have been delayed. Considering that the trailer features several underwater scenes, the sound of deep breathing and Zecchini floating in the water, it’s a questionable move by Netflix considering the documentary’s release is still a month away.
When Netflix shared the trailer on their Twitter account, the comments section quickly filled with followers calling out the release timing and suggesting that it probably wasn’t something the people involved in the Titan submarine tragedy wanted to see.
“Wow, epic timing! Who decided to go up this? someone said.
Another added, “I don’t think you really thought about it.”
A third suggested that the release was done to gain attention from the missing sub, saying, “Someone got in on the business ‘with a bold idea’ and pushed this release up the schedule, right?”
There were some people who were quick to point out that the similarities between basking in relatively shallow waters and taking a submarine 2.5 miles below the surface are two very different things, but from a sensitivity standpoint, it’s clear that Netflix might have thought twice before promoting the documentary. at that time.
James Cameron recently criticized the Titan expedition
As someone with a great deal of knowledge about the Titanic, having done extensive research on the ship for his 1997 movie and visited the famous shipwreck, James Cameron is the kind of person who is more than entitled to share an opinion on the events that have unfolded over the past week. Speaking about the incident, Cameron said:
“People in the community were very concerned about this sub,” Cameron explains. “A number of senior players in the deep submersible engineering community even wrote letters to the company, saying that what they were doing was too experimental to carry passengers and that it needed to get certified.”
He continued, “I was struck by the similarity between the Titanic disaster itself, in which the captain was repeatedly warned of ice in front of his ship, and yet he evaporated at full speed in an ice field on a moonless night and many people died as a result. For us, it is a very similar tragedy.” Where the warnings were not heeded. And to be in the exact same location with all the diving that’s going on all over the world, I think is amazing. It’s really surreal.”
The Titan tragedy has become one of the biggest news stories of the past week, and its devastating aftermath has seen people all over the world offer their condolences to those lost.
