iCarly a star Miranda Cosgrove She shared her thoughts on Carly and Freddie making their relationship official after years of leaving fans wondering whether or not the pair would ever get together. In the Season 3 Paramount+ revival, Carly and Freddie finally admit their feelings for each other and go public with their relationship, something Cosgrove couldn’t be happier to see.
Cosgrove told ET, “It felt really good to see Carly and Freddie together. When I read the script, I was like, ‘Sixteen years, it’s finally happened. ‘ I really wanted to make sure it was delivered because people had waited so long. But it was such a huge relief when she showed up.” The episode and people seemed to really enjoy it, so that was cool.”
Cosgrove (who also serves as an executive producer on the series) noted that Carly and Freddie’s engagement kiss was not in the original script and was actually improvised.
“When we make iCarly, writers are always on set and they’ll come and they’ll brainstorm and we’ll do different things almost every time. So it’s not pure improvisation because the writers come up with different ideas and throw them at us but it keeps us on our toes and it’s really fun to shoot that way.And we never know what will end up in the final cut, so the last takes of the scene with Carly and Freddie finally declaring their love for each other. The last one that was taken ended up being on the show – and it was the only one where Freddy goes “5, 4, 3…” and Carly kisses him. “
Miranda Cosgrove said, “It just makes sense” for Creedy’s romance to happen now
Cosgrove declared that the pair’s romance was definitely worth the wait, saying:
“I think it makes sense for Carly and Freddy because, in the original show, Freddy has a crush or love for Carly from the start. And even though he’s her best friend, and Carly loves him, she doesn’t really see that way. And it feels like throughout the entire series, he was just Wrong timing, like Carly either loved Freddy and Freddie was married, or Freddy loved Carly and Carly just didn’t see it that way. It was never perfect. It really felt like it was the moment they were in the right places in their lives and they could finally go for it.”
Cosgrove later stated that she and her colleagues “feel very fortunate that we got this experience back together”.
She went on to say, “They’re like my family. They’re like two of my best friends. So, to be the same thing all over again, but as an adult and people watching the show again, I appreciate it so much. Fans have stuck with this show for so long. And yeah, it did.” It was an amazing experience all my life.”
She added, “You never know where life is going to take you. I could see myself playing Carly as long as people enjoy watching the revival, but I also don’t want to overstay our welcome and I feel like people have been very nice about it and we’ve responded really well, so I want to make sure We won’t do it for long, but we ended on a perfect note.”
