Alors qu’elle a démissionné de la police après avoir échoué à traquer le tueur machiavélique qui a assassiné sa nièce, la Commandant Sandra Pantakidis a décidé de se retirer sur l'Ile de Porquerolles, où elle s’adonne maintenant à la plongée sous-marine et initie les enfants des écoles de Hyères. C’est alors qu’un deuxième crime survient, celui de Julia Montero, en tout point similaire au premier. Par défi, le Tueur envoie à la police une balle de l’arme qu’il avait volée à Sandra 3 ans plus tôt. Malgré cet "appel" du tueur, Sandra renonce à apporter son aide à l’enquête, jusqu'à ce qu’elle découvre qu’Ariane, sa fille avec qui elle est en froid, vient de s’engager dans la police. La jeune femme est désormais à la tête du Groupe Crime du SRPJ de Hyères ... que Sandra a dirigé. Poussée par le désir "d’exorciser son passé", Sandra accepte de revenir aider ses anciens collègues et refuse de laisser échapper le tueur une seconde fois.
