In the recent flurry of excitement among Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) fans, the actress Elizabeth OlsenKnown for her character as the Scarlet Witch, she has expressed her anticipation of a possible crossover between her character and the X-Men.

According to The Direct, the reveal occurred during her appearance at the TJH Superhero Car Show & Comic Con, where Olsen expressed her keen interest in “figuring out all things mutant,” delving into that aspect of her character’s story and potentially encountering other MCU mutants. Olsen said,

“Oh my God, I just want to figure out the whole mutant thing. Like, this is really…and none of us can do anything about it. Like, we can’t do anything about it. We’re not the X-Men, but oh my God. Just me I like to explore that a lot. I think X-Men was definitely my first experience with superhero-type films.”

Olsen’s character has not been in the spotlight since her presumed death in 2022 Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness On Mt. Wondergor. However, audiences are still in great anticipation for the return of the Scarlet Witch, given the multiverse expansion of the ongoing multiverse saga.

This expectation is further amplified by the imminent introduction of the X-Men into the MCU, courtesy of Disney securing the rights to the Mutant characters. Olsen’s expressed enthusiasm for the X-Men crossover can be seen as matching these fan expectations. It will be interesting to see how Marvel responds to these developing possibilities.

Interestingly enough, Olsen has stated that her desire to solve the “mutant thing” stems from her character Wanda Maximoff. This is rooted from the comic books, where she is depicted as a mutant and the X-Men’s daughter Magneto.

In that vein, the prospect of the X-Men being woven into the fabric of the MCU also brings with it the opportunity to revisit and possibly reshape Scarlet Witch’s backstory. This is especially important since Marvel has hinted at turning Wanda into a mutant character. This is echoed by similar changes made to Iman Villani’s Ms. Marvel, who was modified to have mutant DNA in the MCU.

In an earlier instance, Olsen also expressed her desire to recite the famous phrase from the Marvel comics: “No more mutants,” reinforcing speculation surrounding a possible X-Men crossover.

Next Deadpool 3 It may provide an opportunity for Olsen’s return either through an Earth-616 appearance or another variant of her personality. This promises multiverse spin-offs from several characters from Marvel’s rich history.

Avengers: Secret Wars is another highly anticipated project where fans might expect the Scarlet Witch to return, especially since it’s being touted to introduce Mutant characters from previous Marvel adaptations.

Whichever way Olsen makes the Scarlet Witch return, it seems likely that her mutant roots will soon take center stage, especially if Olsen’s ambitions are taken into account.
