Avengers: Endgame 2019 saw the poignant closure of Steve Rogers’ story, as he travels back in time to retrieve the Infinity Stones, returning as an elderly man indicating that he has lived out his life with Peggy. The movie hinted at their long-awaited date, however Rogers: The Musician It provides a more detailed explanation of this event. Theatrical narration introduces an elderly Cap, who after being reunited with his henchmen game overthe time stone appears.
In an aptly named duet, end of lineHowever, the younger Cap is convinced to use the Time Stone to revisit Peggy. With the touch of the stone, the hall plunges into darkness, filled with the ticking of the clock and Peggy’s echoing words of encouragement. This causes a dramatic transition to a scene from the 1940s, caused by the green light caused by the Time Stone, as Peggy begins the musical number. Just one dance.
As the narrative continues, Steve finally appears, apologizing for being late, cleverly attributing this to losing track of time – an apparent reference to his time travel journey. Dialogue and musical references deftly weave references to the Time Stone and their reunion, which eventually leads to the eagerly awaited dance between Steve and Peggy. “You know from the start exactly what I’m made of. Now after another day it’s all I’m afraid of. So what’s a man to do, but prove it right, by coming back to you.”
This poignant moment culminates in Steve uttering his catchphrase, “I could do this all day.”
Rogers: The Musical blends fact and fiction of the MCU
This skit raises questions about his legal status in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). In Hawkeye, Rogers: The Musical is portrayed as a rather funny overview of the events from The Avengers (2012), not necessarily accurate. Thus, he suggests that audiences view this staged adaptation as an entertaining metafiction, rather than a true account of Steve’s adventures.
However, Marvel Studios is well aware of the intense curiosity that fans have felt regarding the fate of Steve Rogers and his time-traveling exploits since the end credits of Avengers: Endgame. With references in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier feeding off fan theories about Cap’s whereabouts, the plot has only grown.
Interestingly, Marvel Studios, including Kevin Feige, have endorsed Disney’s handover of Rogers: The Musician.
