Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse Not just the best Spider Man sequel ever (is the fourth “second”) Spider Man Movie after 2004 Spider-Man 22014 The amazing spider-man 2and 2019 Spider-Man: Far From Home) but it’s also the best superhero sequel ever. Structurally and thematically similar to The empire strikesAnd Toy Story 2 It’s also an apt comparison. This is the sequel to the classic animation that redefined the genre that was loved by many and that somehow manages to be even better than its predecessor.
2018 Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse It was a pleasant surprise that not many expected. It was a superhero movie that anyone could enjoy, whether they’re a fan or someone who doesn’t like superheroes. It’s the best superhero movie ever made, so the sequel arrived with much higher expectations. I felt there was no way to live up to the hype, however Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse Somehow he does the impossible and exceeds all expectations.
The movie picks up nearly a year after the events Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse, in which Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) enjoys his role as Spider-Man but struggles to balance his normal life with his duties as a superhero. When Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld) returns to Miles’ world, he discovers that the multiverse has really opened up after his battle with the Kingpin, and now a new threat in the form of The Spot (Jason Schwartzman) threatens the entire multiverse.
Miles reunites with Peter P. Parker (Jake Johnson) and meets a whole host of Spider-Man who have taken on the responsibility of guarding the multiverse. Some of the notable names include Spider-Punk (Daniel Kuluuya), Pavitr Prabhakar (Karan Soni), and Spider-Woman (Issa Rae), and they are led by Miguel O’Hara aka Spider-Man-2099 (Oscar Isaac). The entire multiverse is at stake, and Miles must find his place in this wider universe.
The story of the larger Spider-Man unfolds
Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse It delivers everything audiences loved about the first movie, but it goes deeper. Compare to The empire strikes It has nothing to do with the open-ended nature of the sequel (fans already know Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse in 2024) but with the fact that this is a more personal story. It features a broader scope than its predecessor, but in terms of a climax, it’s a more emotional finale than the action-packed first film.
Miles is, of course, the star of the movie, but Spider-Gwen has been given a much bigger role and even stars in the movie’s premise. While a lot of the new characters get a great deal of attention, Miles and Gwen are the heart of the series, and the movie takes the time to examine their desires and fears.
Try to make a retrospective Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse Less of a standalone film and more of the first chapter in a trilogy, the sinister slick has been tied into the events of that movie (in one of the funniest versions ever) as well as playing a role in the origin of Miles Morales in more ways than one. This tendency for sequels to expand on small details from the first film can sometimes feel at odds with the original (a notable example is Compass Jack Sparrow’s transition from a joke to an important part of the mythology in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest). but, Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse The needle threads perfectly.
While Spot is the film’s main driving antagonist and presumably the franchise’s greatest villain, the actual conflict at the heart of the film comes between Miles Morales and Spider-Man 2099. Spider-Man 2099 has adopted the mindset that they must work for the greater good, while believing Miles says that their job as Spider-Man is to try and save everyone. With great power comes great responsibility, but is it responsible to let one person die to save millions? Or is it responsible to take risks and try to save everyone even if failure means losing everything?
None of these questions are easy, and the central conflict is what separates Miles Morales from Spider-Man 2099. Captain America: Civil War, both heroes are 100% incorrect. It’s just that different forms of heroism come into conflict, though the movie stands by Miles in that Spider-Man is a character who will never give up.
What does it cost to be Spider-Man?
Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse The theme was that “anyone can wear a mask”. Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse He decides to dig deeper into that statement and challenge it, or at least challenge the idea of what audiences expect from a Spider-Man story. It’s no secret that there have been multiple Spider-Man reboots, and fans who’ve never read the comics know the familiar undertones of his story. While anyone can be Spider-Man, what does it take to be Spider-Man?
Spider-Man is the most iconic hero in Marvel Comics, and even before Miles Morales was introduced in the comics, there were multiple accounts of Spider-Man’s origin. They all tend to share similar distinguishing features. Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse This is alluded to in the idea that the various Spider-Man heroes have all lost important characters in their origin. However, Spider-Man’s origin isn’t the only major loss that defines the character: Gwen Stacy, Harry Osborn, Aunt May, Captain George Stacey, and many more. Spider-Man is a character defined as much by loss as by victory. He is a character who seems destined to suffer. This is why there was a section of Spider-Man fandom that was disappointed with Tom Holland’s MCU Spider-Man, because he wasn’t the martyr that Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man was.
Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse He decides to confront this idea head on. It delves into why audiences want to see Spider-Man suffer, and should it be that way. Yes, this is an established law that many have followed, but does it always have to be this way? Can anyone remain Spider-Man or Spider-Man without having to lose more?
Miles is unlike every other Spider-Man, and his willingness to break with the Corporation makes him both a hero and an anomaly in the literal sense of the movie, but also in the broader meta-narrative of the franchise. This version of Miles Morales is unique compared to his fellow heroes in the movie and other Miles Morales in other Spider-Man media. Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse is a movie that argues if they’re going to keep remaking and reimagining Spider-Man, the creators shouldn’t be afraid to push their way and try new things.
The comic book really comes to life
Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse It was filmed in an arm of the animation industry, moving away from standard realism and going for highly stylized, cartoonish visual styles. Since then his influence has been shown in films such as the wickedAnd Puss in Boots: Last Wishand until the next Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mayhem. Filmmakers Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse He knew the expectations audiences now had for the movie, and they’re definitely up to the challenge.
Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse It’s a great animated movie. A visual spectacle with eye-popping animation that delights with every frame. Different heroes are given their own unique art design, and with Miles now exploring new dimensions, interacting with entirely new and innovative environments. That’s more of an insane multiverse than it will be in 2022 Dr. Strange sequel. From a version of Vulture modeled after Leonardo da Vinci’s drawings to Spider-Punk animated in the collage style of a rock album, this is a story that can only be told in an animated medium, and it’s even better.
Like the first film, the film uses visual language and comic book direction and marries the film seamlessly. Backgrounds in dialogue scenes often change between takes to reflect a character’s emotions. Even without sound, one could still easily explain the story just with the pictures alone. This is a movie that is, technically, a step ahead of what they achieved in the first movie.
A love letter to Spider-Man
Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse It probably has more easter eggs and references than perhaps any other superhero movie. While some viewers may catch their eye on it and think that the movie is just a sequence of Leonardo DiCaprio’s scenes Once upon a time in hollywood Referring to the screen, these references are fun but not the focus. The movie focuses heavily on its core cast of characters, with the various references a nice treat for fans but not the centerpiece.
Fans of the various versions of Spider-Man throughout his rich history in film, television, and video games will certainly not be disappointed. There are a lot of cameos, some announced but also many that no audience could possibly have anticipated in the best possible way. It’s sure to inspire plenty of conversations among friends about all the different cameos and connections with other shared universes on both the big and small screen.
This love letter to all things Spider-Man extends to the story itself and graphic elements and motifs from the various Spider-Man stories. Like Sam Raimi Spider-Man 2the movie delves into the cost of being Spider-Man, while Spot has more in common with Electro than The amazing spider-man 2. The Spot starts out as a small-time crook (who is mocked by Miles as the villain of the week), who drives the villain crazy and wants more power to show Spider-Man that he’s serious. Miles indirectly makes his archenemy in the same way many Spider-Mans have been linked to his greatest villain creations. This is a movie building from the rich history of Spider-Man stories to craft a unique story.
Via Spider-Verse is an amazing sequel
Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse is the rare sequel that not only lives up to the original, but surpasses it. It may not be as iconic as the first film in terms of certain visuals (the “What’s Up Danger” scene will forever be a hallmark of the genre), but Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse is a more emotionally complex, visually inventive, and action-packed sequel that’s like both. The empire strikes or Avengers: Infinity War Audiences will be left counting down the days until the epic finale.
The multiverse concept was a fairly new idea for the general public at the time. Now, it’s a concept that fans are more familiar with than usual. The MCU has explored that in LokiAnd Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of MadnessAnd Spider-Man: No way home. Two weeks after the release via spider-verseDC the light It will also be a multiverse superhero epic. The multiverse was even the subject of an Academy Award-winning movie, Everything is everywhere at once. In the five years that have passed since S.Spider-Man: Into the Spider-VerseOne would think that the multiverse would end, however Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse It shows that there is still a lot of excellent storytelling potential with the multiverse. It’s still very early in the summer movie season, but it’s going to be a challenge for any film to be at the top Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse.
