Directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green (King Richard), and written by Zac Palin, Frank E. Flowers, and Terrence Winter, Bob Marley: One Love stars Kingsley Ben-Adir (Peaky Blinders, Barbie, Comey Base(as the famous Jamaican singer-songwriter alongside Lashana Lynch)Captain Marvel, no time to die) as Rita Marley, Bob’s wife.
The rest of the cast includes Jesse Sileo as Norval Marley, as well as Michael Gandolfini (Many saints in newark), Nadine Marshall (A street cat named Bob), James Norton (little Women), and Anthony Welch (flasher).
Bob Marley: One Love Will Explore Its Sorrows, Joys, and Redemption
In anticipation of the trailer’s Bob Marley: One LoveMarley’s son and singer-songwriter Ziggy Marley has released a statement offering insight into how the biopic deals with Bob Marley and his extraordinary career.
“Nothing happens before the time is right and now is the time to act out the story of our father, Bob Marley, in a theatrical release of a biopic coming in 2024. You have heard the music and you think you know the man but do you really understand what he has been through and what moments have shaped him into the person he has become” , begins his statement. Directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green and starring Kingsley Ben-Adir as Bob with Lashana Lynch as his wife, Rita, this film will make you witness for the first time what it was like to be around the legend, to see his pain, sorrows, joys and redemption.
He went on to praise the authenticity that Bob Marley: One Love brings to the screen. “Shooted in England and Jamaica,” he said, “the cast and crew represent one of the most unique creations ever seen in a Hollywood studio.” Authenticity fills the screen with many Jamaican actors who take pride in representing the culture. Filmed in actual places Bob walked, played football and sang like Trench Town and Paul Bay in Kingston, it’s an artistic creation we’re proud of and we want you to entertain but also be inspired. It was produced by the family with Paramount Studios and for us it is a continuation of Bob’s mission and growth.”
Bob Marley: One Love It will be shown in theaters January 12, 2024 by Paramount Pictures.
